What's in the Closet: Rodarte x Opening Ceremony California Intarsia Sweater

This is an oldie but a goodie.  I have worn this sweater so much since I got it about a year ago.  It's actually the men's version which I like a lot more for some reason.  I'm such a sucker for buying this thing.

I have been super busy lately.  I got to go to a Friends and Family opening for NoMad.  You couldn't take photos of course.  I also have gone to Bohemian a few too many times in the last few weeks.  I'm going out to eat everywhere else that I can't even name right now.  I also stopped by Montreal for a few days too.  On top of that, I have everyone visiting one after the other.  I'm excessively working like normal... I'm always happiest when I'm busy but I'm exhausted.  Going out to eat this much takes a toll on your body because all the food I eat is so rich.  I have like 2 days where I don't need to be anywhere so I have been a hermit.  I go straight to work and then home.

What's in the Closet: Comme des Garcons Circle Sweater

I wore this lot during the winter. I took it along all of the trips I went on because of the large pockets. Classic Rei Kawakubo from Fall 2002.

What's in the Closet: Arrowhead x Rodarte Shirt

This is my favorite t-shirt I own. I have a huge selection of cool band shirts and Threadless shirts, but the print and the feel of this shirt makes me always want to wear it. I have owned this for a while. I own a few other Rodarte shirts too, but love this still photo of this scary looking little girl. I wear it and like it so much that I actually bought another one, just in case this one got ruined. I usually don't do that, but that's how much I literally wear this shirt.

What's in the Closet: Givenchy Mini beaded Pandora Clutch

(last photo from nymag.com)

This was styled with the first look on the runway from Fall/Winter 2010. I loved this show... the light with the bright red. I do have the lace up boots from this collection as well. I will show you them in another post.

What's in the Closet: Alexander McQueen Skull Bee Ring

I was going to start collecting them but he passed so it doesn't feel the same. I only have one other ring that I will show you another time. This one has purple pearls as eyes and the bee is silver, so it almost looks like a fly. It's really oversized so it's hard to wear it out sometimes because it gets caught in everything.

What's in the Closet: Prada Watch

This is a bronze Prada watch from Fall 2005. I'm not a big watch person right now, I used to be obsessed in the early 2000. I had an watch in almost every color. I'm sure I have those watches somewhere in my parents garage back in California, but none of them can bet this watch. This also came in a plastic face that came in an array of colors, but I figure that since a lot of my jewelry is this color, I might as well stick with this.

What's in the Closet: Vintage MIT Brass Rat Ring

It has taken me a while for me to post this... This is quite possibly my favorite piece of jewelry that I own. I wear it more than any other piece of jewelry that I own, because it's kind of underrated, just a simple band of gold with details. It took me a couple of years to find it. It's a 1970 MIT class ring. I'm not a class ring kind of person, but when I first saw this ring on a 70+ women, I was hooked.

I asked her simply, "What kind of ring are you wearing?"

"It's my late husbands MIT ring."

I spent a pretty penny on this thing. I mean I'm kind of embarrassed really, but it's so hard to find and usually really expensive when you find one. They are very coveted. It's the most recognized class ring, but it's only if you know what it is. (It's almost like having a Super Bowl ring but for colleges.) Since I did just take the trip to Boston, I felt like it was very appropriate to finally post it. I love how the gold looks aged more than anything and I found it in really good condition considering how old it is. I had an incident where I almost lost the ring... thank goodness I didn't. I seriously would've had a meltdown. I did lose something else, but it turned out to not be as important as I thought, because at least it's easier to find another one of those than this thing.

What's in the Closet: Phi knit and leather gloves + vintage Chanel ring

It's a huge shame that Phi had to fold. I loves Phi's stuff... and it's harder to find when you don't live in NYC. These gloves are so well made and buttery soft. I like the concept of the attached knit sleeves. I wish they could detach. These were Fall 2009.

I got this vintage ring at a consignment shop here in NYC a few months back. It's incredibly heavy... When I first saw it, I didn't really realize it was Chanel. What drew me to it was the size of the ring, how it looked like a men's ring and the crest/shield.

What's in the Closet: Defy Ring

Defy is a jewelry label that is based in Thailand. I fell in love with their rings when I went to a small boutique in Montreal. This was the only thing I got while I was there. This ring is completely oversized (1.5" high), which I absolutely love. I'm a huge music lover and this just fit perfectly.

I'll eventually do a post with some more of my jewelry I've been collecting. I've been on a jewelry buying frenzy in the past year.

What's in the Closet: Rick Owens

I own a good amount of pieces from Rick Owens... I'm kind of shy showing this stuff... so...

These are my boots from a while back. I love them... they are amazing and comfy but sometimes I feel like I'm too close to outer space... haha (but always in a good way, I swear!)

I still haven't gotten all my stuff shipped to NYC, yet. It's though though, 'cause I wanna buy everything I already don't have here yet... wish me luck!

Moving... continued...

(From top (green) Marni, Marc Jacobs Collection, Manolo Blahnik, Dolce and Gabanna)

This is how my room looks trying to move.

There is this cool layout to my room and it allow me to display my shoes as if it was a showroom. (: At least that is how Jackie described it. It's funny too because the lighting in the room very much looked that way. (And yes, those are the shoes I own without boxes on top and those boxes are actually filled.)

I wrote this while I was at the SFO airport.

I’ve been sitting at the SFO airport for way too long… I’m running on about 2 hours of sleep. I’m paranoid that I will miss my flight… lose my chance at New York. So, my body naturally wants to wake up every 20 minutes. So, I give up at sleep around 6AM and deal with my morning. My flight is at noon, but I need to make sure everything is square for me to go. I get to the airport early at 9, because John is forced to go to some ridiculous meeting/training with the company he just put in his 2 weeks notice with.

So many new beginnings, while so many things end.

Geez I’m starving. I feel like when I have a proper breakfast, I’m hungry way too often for the rest of the day. I’m gonna be stuck at an airport bored out of my mind with no internet access because I forget my cable to tether my phone. When I am packing, I don’t like to be under pressure, because I’m going to forget something for sure. I can’t even find my old apartment keys. It’s in one of the large 15 boxes that I packed within the last few days. (Sorry Will, I’ll FedEx them back to you when I find them I swear!)

Some amazing friends came over with cold beers, while I packed. We were reminiscing about past memories together; things we want to do together in the future.

3 hours later…

Of course I have the worst luck. My flight was delayed by 2 hours and I’m also late for my connecting flight. How frustrating is that? How am I suppose to meet a friend in Bed Stuy (Brooklyn) at maybe 2AM or 3AM without being paranoid that someone will jack my stuff? I won’t even check in my luggage because I’m afraid it’s going to be lost somehow.

What's in the Closet: Thomas Wylde scarf

I was devastated when I lost my Alexander McQueen skull scarf that I had since his Shipwreck collection. I kept looking around for a replacement, but it didn't feel the same, because they have been around for so long and a bit outdated. (I mean at least I have the "I got it over 6 years ago" excuse.) So, instead I found this:

A Thomas Wylde gypsy skull scarf, while I was in NY. ((:

New Year: Wearing down the closet...

Here is what my external closet looks like. I almost can't stand looking at all of my stuff anymore. Just all the stuff I have collected and have not worn in so many years. This year, I'm trying to cut it down to the bear minimum. I've been doing a lot of things to condense my closet down. I'll give you an update in 3 months just to see how I've progressed.

What's in the closet: The Skeleton Key

One of my favorite pieces of jewelry is this key necklace that was given to me from my friend Wendy. It took about a year to find it. She first had one and I loved it so much I asked her to find me one too. I never thought she was going to find it, but she did.

It's something that is really classic and will never go out of style. I seem to be able to wear it with any kind of outfit, whether I'm dressed up or down.
