What to Wear Daily: Prada Sunglasses

I was so incredibly picky with finding a pair of sunglasses. I wanted a pair that looked casual, simple, classic with a flair. I haven't bought a pair of sunglasses in many years. I found these at the Prada store in Soho before the summer started. It was meant to be.

I don't remember if you remember this post, but while I was in California last month, my friend was making me a new cocktail he invented and the orange peel said Big Jim on it.

Jigger, Beaker and Glass Event at The Whistler

I was only in Chicago for a couple days last week. I also spent time in South Bend, but my memory card had an error... again. I use two different cameras and this newer one just likes to take the best photos and not allow me to retrieve them.

When I asked my friend about where I should go in Chicago, he named so many places that there was no way I would remember. So, he basically told me to just go to The Violet Hour and ask the guys there. They urged us to go to an event that they had on Monday at The Whistler.

This event was based on the cocktail book by Charles H. Baker Jr. They made a menu of their favorite cocktails. It was so packed in there. It ended up being a lot of fun and we met some really nice people.

Taking a Trip: Chicago-The Violet Hour

A friend of mine consulted with the cocktail menu here. Beautiful space and great staff.

Free Access: Hell on Earth Tour at Abaton in Prague

(1. Terror on Stage; 2. Hanging out with the guys afterward)

I don't know if you guys in the US notice this, but hardcore is HUGE in Europe. These guys go to Europe anywhere between 4 to 6 times a year. It was random that Jordo from Terror was there while we were. We stopped by to see their show and hang out before they had to leave to the next city.

From Fall 2008.

One of my favorite collections by Riccardo Tisci. I could live off of this collection for the rest of my life if I had to.

What's in the Closet: Alexander McQueen Skull Bee Ring

I was going to start collecting them but he passed so it doesn't feel the same. I only have one other ring that I will show you another time. This one has purple pearls as eyes and the bee is silver, so it almost looks like a fly. It's really oversized so it's hard to wear it out sometimes because it gets caught in everything.

Blissful days off in NYC

Spending a day off walking around NYC with Nioka. We ended up having a early evening coffee at The Smile.

What to Wear Daily: Stella McCartney Motorcyle jacket

My friend Hieu went ahead and stopped in the middle of the road so he can photograph the sky. Isn't that amazing? Its just a few blocks from my parents house in Sacramento. It's not something you really get to see in full view in Manhattan.

I love this jacket. It fits really well and it's so warm. The pockets are really deep too.

Free Access: Joanna Newsom at Carnegie Hall

I love love love Joanna Newsom. She is even more amazing live. Last time, I got to see her at Great American Music Hall in SF, when Ys came out. Quite possibly one of the most moving performers I have ever seen in my life. When I see her, her performances are extremely emotional to me. Being able to see her in this historic space made it even better for me. If she ever is touring near you, I highly recommend seeing her, no matter what kind of music you listen to.

Music just heals my heart and soul. I'm 3000 miles away from my whole family and it just isn't the best feeling in the whole world. We are extremely close and it gets tough sometimes. Seeing Joanna really picked up my spirits. Things in my life can get extremely stressful.

(I know this photo is awful quality. Just blame it on my Blackberry.)

Back to Cali... and Koi.

Guys... I am just running around like a chicken with it's head cut off!

I still don't have internet access... When that is official I will really start posting... I swear!

Anyways... I went back again to Cali before the holiday because my job permits me from leaving any longer than 2 days during the holiday. I have this itch with wanting to travel all the time. I'm obsessed with it. I'm going to be flying to at least another city for leisure each month. I just got my camera back when I flew back to SF from my friend Norm. He is pretty much too lazy to mail it back to me... that it took a flight back and 1.5 months later for me to get it.

This is a photo of my parents backyard. They have had a variation of a koi pond for years. As time progresses, the pond gets larger and larger. They have raised them since I was a kid. When I came back home this last time, I didn't realize how ridiculously huge they have become.

And... oh yeah. Happy Tofurkey Day!

Taking a Trip: Prague- Lennon Wall

Sorry I have been MIA guys... I have been travelling a lot and I've been working too much. In the last 2 months I have been all over California (L.A., Sacramento, SF) and I stopped by the Czech Republic as well.

Here is a quick preview of me and my friends Sprite, Jordo and Brian at the Lennon Wall in Prague. This is us trying to throw up gangsta stance... jokingly of course. I will update you with more photos soon. I lost a bunch of photos because my memory card had an error. I'm so pissed!! Anyways... I hope everyone is well.

Behind the Scenes: Lela Rose Resort 2011

Sorry these took too long to post. The video pretty much shows it all when it comes to what happened during the presentation. This is just pictures of the changing space for the models and the model/look board.

(Again... via my Blackberry)

Enjoy.

Free Access: Spiritualized at Radio City Music Hall

One of my favorite albums is Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space by Spiritualized. They did a show n NYC and they played the whole album in it's entirety which was just amazing. The band had a full orchestra and gospel choir. You just can't get any better than that. I had such an amazing seat that was so close to the stage. Sorry about the poor quality with the pictures. I only had my Blackberry. I rarely carry around a camera.

Lela Rose Resort 2011

I had the pleasure of assisting with Lela Rose's Resort show that was in her new Tribeca apartment. I can't tell you how amazing her apartment is... I mean you can actually see it... it was featured in the New York Times Magazine.

Free Access: MOMA Garden Party w/ Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Where is Waldo?

I was invited by a friend that works for MoMA to the Garden Party. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs performed which was mind blowing. I have more pictures, but this is what showed up on Brooklyn Vegan.

What I Want: Chanel Tape Clutch

If you can't already tell, I'm really obsessed with music... it's pretty much right next to fashion. Years ago, when I wasn't able to afford anything over $200, I saw this Chanel clutch. So, for the last few years, I've been obsessed with trying to finding it. I archive things in my head that I haven't been able to get ahold of over the years. When I found this on the Luxirare shop... I literally died because it's the same one I have been looking for, for over half a decade. The price on the clutch is still steep considering how old it is, but since I did get myself an apartment, I won't be able to throw money down on this clutch. If I ever get to find one later on, I would never sell it.

What to Wear Daily: Gareth Pugh

(Taken By Nioka in Williamsburg)

I dress the best at night... I always feel like during the day I should be in a t-shirt and jeans. I got this Gareth Pugh black and white jacket from his Spring 2009 collection a while back and I haven't posted it. I'll do another post so you can really see the jacket another time.

I have been stressed lately... I will be moving into my own place in a few days and I will be back to living solo. I am looking forward to it. Luckily I found a new place relatively quick. It's really competitive to find new digs in NYC... I looked at the place and gave them all my paperwork within the hour, so no one else would take it. Luckily I won't be moving too far away from my current place (which literally means moving directly across the street.)

Guess...

Who I saw last night...

Here is a hint.

May 21, 2010

"I believe that we have to go forward and I believe that we have to go with change, but there are certain things that are beautiful to leave as they are. And fashion is not always about what’s new, it’s also about what’s good. And I think if you need to see what’s good, you have to be there."

Moschino (Meatpacking District)

How great is this window display?

May 9, 2010

"I have to say something if I want to sing
But it's not about the words
It's my voice rising
To a place far from me
That my fingers can't reach
And my legs are so tired from all this standing
Standing still"

Painkiller NYC

(Painkiller photo from examiner.com)

I was invited to go to Painkiller's opening night for 'Friends and Family.' Painkiller is a Tiki Bar located on Essex and Grand in the Lower East Side. The place was insanely packed and humid. It was a lot of fun running into friends there. There is a string of rum bars that will be opening in NYC in the next few months. I also got to go to another opening for Cienfuegos last week as well. My dear and sweet friend is running the bar program there. The bar screams her personality. I highly recommend going to these places as soon as you can, before it's just too difficult to even get inside.

Taking a Trip: Prada NYC

Usually when people some to visit and they want to go shopping in SoHo, I make it a point to have them walk through the Prada store that is on Broadway. The store is just so amazing. Even if you can't afford to buy anything there, I suggest just to walk down the stairs.

I saw so many great buildings while my brothers were here. There were a lot of pics taken of my back... First one is my hallway and the next is Prada. They were filming The Smurfs moving in my building and on my balcony... they were taking my whole block to film. When I walked out at 11pm to say goodbye to a good friend that is moving back to SF, I'm pretty sure I walked through them filming. There was absolutely no other way to get out of my building... So, when and if you watch it... you'll see my building. (:

Shoe Collection: Alexander McQueen Skull flats

I've owned these for a while... but my brother, Johnny was taking some photos while he was visiting. This is a picture of Phi and I in the Highline Park elevator.

I have owned these shoes for a few years already... so much they need to be soled very badly. I wore them with black Diesel jeans and MM6 blue cardigan.
